Important Notice
At April’s SSRCM meeting, we had a lengthy discussion about the club’s mower. Anyone who has witnessed the mower in action or has had the bad luck to actually have to drive it, knows that it is on its last legs. While the frame, drive mechanism, and blade mechanism are in reasonably good shape, the engine is shot: it leaks oil and burns oil. According to reports, it takes a gallon of oil and a quart of gasoline to mow the field. Okay, it’s not quite that bad. However, it almost certainly won’t last the season. Dave Husher and Bill Bergen took action items at the meeting to investigate how expensive it would be to overhaul the engine. Dave did a quick Internet search during the meeting and found new engines for about $600 plus shipping. After the meeting, Dave found a very nice mower on Craig’s List for $650, and Roger Youmans agreed to buy it for the club and get reimbursed later, if the club wanted to buy it. The club officers and many of the members have looked the mower over and agree it’s a good deal. Roger also replaced the blades, which was another $30. To be able to spend that amount of money, we have to vote on it at the next meeting (Monday, June 4, 2012), and we have to publish a notification at least 30 days before the meeting. This notice along with an email or physical letter sent to each member satisfies that notification. Please plan to attend the meeting if you want to express your opinion and vote on this matter.
